OUR STORY
Proprietor, Alex Yount grew up observing and learning basic carpentry skills from his father, who acquired his abilities working in a furniture factory in the Hickory area of North Carolina. Alex carried his interest into his education, having graduated with a degree from the School of Architecture at the University of Florida. In 1998, Alex purchased a turn of the century home in the small town of Boerne, Texas, about 30 miles northwest of San Antonio. Boerne, as well as most other towns in the area, have German roots and many of the historic homes in them were built with the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail of that generation.
After years of frustration in his search for qualified craftsmen to repair and restore some of the 24 original wood sash windows in his home, Alex began to learn the skill of refurbishing and replacing the windows and frames that had lasted well over 100 years. Initially self-taught, he began to seek a master of the craft and was subsequently pleased to learn of workshops sponsored by the City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation being led by Mr. Steve Quillian of Wood Window Makeover. Alex has worked and trained under Mr. Quillian, learning repair and restoration techniques, as well as complete fabrication of window sashes.

Individualized Repair Refurbishment or Replication Options
Wood Window Werks is a professional window repair company specializing in the repair, functionality or replication of wood windows in older or historic homes. Using the timeless woodworking techniques of old-world craftsmen, we strive to salvage and restore your beautiful antique windows, returning them to full workability. Most can be repaired, but should replication be needed, our experts will create an exact replica of the original.
Wood Window Werks will have your windows working like new, without compromising the architectural integrity and historic value of your home. Our experts are masters of their craft and will repair or replace broken pulley systems, glass, sashes and frames, as well as re-glaze and restore. We also service clients who wish to return newer replacement windows to their authentic, historically accurate state.
Our experienced craftsmen are dedicated to the preservation process, and are committed to salvaging old wood when possible, and using only replacement pieces that are compatible to the period of your home.
